21 Day Fast Day 19
Prayer Warriors
In Ephesians 6 Paul commissions the Church to be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. He then goes on to describe what that looks like… a prayer warrior!
He describes the armor of God that equips his prayer warriors to battle in the spiri.
He says:
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”
Ephesians 6:12 ESV
Because of this battle he implores the church to “take up the whole armor of God”
“Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,”
Ephesians 6:14-17 ESV
Now with the armor of God on Paul describes the marching orders for this army of prayer warriors:
PRAY!!!
“praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.”
Ephesians 6:18-20 ESV
Ok prayer warriors! Let’s take up the Lord's armor today, stay alert and persevere in prayer! As the song goes “ I’m fighting a battle, You already won”. Your prayers matter and they are powerful and effective even when it doesn’t feel like it! Let’s pray for each other, our families, our community, our coworkers! I love that the emphasis of the personal prayer that Paul asked for was that He would be given words to boldly proclaim the Gospel when he opened his mouth to speak! Let’s partner together in that prayer (and others) today.
God bless you and fill you fresh with the Holy Spirit as you fast and pray today.
