21 Day Fast Day 13

On this snowy morning in January it’s the perfect setting to spend quality time with the Lord in prayer.

1 Thessalonians ‭5‬:‭17‬ ‭ESV‬‬ says:
“pray without ceasing,”

What this verse highlights to me is that we have 24/7 access to the throne of God and we have his attention. We have his Spirit within us everywhere we go and we can bring our every moment into conversation with Him.

Remember we have a God who hears us!

Although we can pray anytime anywhere it is also important to carve out time to be alone with God to pray. We can focus on him and quiet all the other distractions to just be with him and talk to him. Remember that prayer is not a one way conversation as God will also speak to us by the Holy Spirit and his word.

Jesus modeled this for his disciples and for us.
“But he would withdraw to desolate places and pray.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭5‬:‭16‬ ‭ESV‬‬

One of the prayers Jesus prayed that stands out to me is in Luke 22 where Jesus was about to be arrested and crucified, “saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.””
‭‭Luke‬ ‭22‬:‭42‬ ‭ESV‬‬

What a powerful prayer! Not my will, but yours be done.

What does praying God’s will look like in your life?

2 ways we can pray his will is by the Holy Spirit revealing the heart of the father to us and by praying his word. Taking scripture and turning it into our prayer.

In this season of fasting let’s quiet ourselves to feel the heartbeat of God by the Holy Spirit within us. Let’s dig into his word so we can pray his word and his will into our lives. Think of how God’s will in your life will change you and the world around you.

Be blessed as you fast, pray and seek His face TODAY!
