21 Day Fast Day 6

I recently put a cold Pyrex dish in the oven with the leftovers of the most delicious sour dough french toast bake I have ever tasted! I took it out of the refrigerator and put it in the oven and wanted to heat it up fast so I set the oven to broil.

A few minutes later I smelled something burning and remembered the French toast bake! I opened the oven to find that it was on fire so I got oven mitts and took it out. Just as I placed it on the counter, the Pyrex dish exploded sending glass everywhere and the french toast bread all over the floor!

The problem was that the plate was cold. Even though it was made to handle high heat when it was put in the oven while it was cold it couldn’t handle the fire and it burst into pieces. If I would have prepared the plate by allowing it to warm up it would not have broken.

‭‭Luke‬ ‭5‬:‭36‬-‭39‬ ‭ESV‬‬ says:
“He also told them a parable: “No one tears a piece from a new garment and puts it on an old garment. If he does, he will tear the new, and the piece from the new will not match the old. And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the new wine will burst the skins and it will be spilled, and the skins will be destroyed. But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins. And no one after drinking old wine desires new, for he says, ‘The old is good.’”

Let’s come before God as new wine skins this year. Flexible and ready to receive the new! Let's seek him, humble ourselves before him and prepare our hearts for new fire! New wine! A new anointing and fresh outpouring of His Spirit.

Let’s get ready for the fire!

In the book of Matthew, John the Baptist said:
““I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭3‬:‭11‬ ‭ESV‬‬

In the book of Luke 11 Jesus said:
“For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!””
‭‭Luke‬ ‭11‬:‭10‬-‭13‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Even as we humble ourselves, pray and seek God's face during this fast let’s ask our Abba Father for the Holy Spirit.
